Well here we go again into another season of Bristol& District Golf and hopefully a summer of sunshine and friendship. On Sunday we held our annual Foursomes Championship at Shirehampton Park Golf Club, and in very testing conditions the resurgence of Tracy Park was very much evident as they came home winners of the team prize with a score of 137 stableford points (best 4 scores to count in a team of 5 pair’s) and they also won the pair’s championship with 39 pts (back 6) , runners up in the team prize were Woodspring Golf Club on 134 points( which pleased our fixture secretary) and Saltford were 3rd on 133 pts. Runners up in the pairs were Bristol & Clifton (back 9) with Saltford finishing again 3rd both also on 39 points The hospitality at the host club was excellent from the start of the day to the finish with the course looking as good as I have ever seen it, a special mention must go to the Shirehampton Park chairman for inputting the scores with a specially written programme for the day, and projected onto a television in the club house for all to see, a very nice touch. I could not let this occasion go without mentioning Craig Brooks from Chipping Sodbury Golf Club for achieved every golfers dream by getting a hole-in-one on the 145 yard 8th hole – many congratulations. I wish all team’s every success this season, and please remember it is always nice to win but better to be sporting in defeat. Let’s also hope for a drier and warmer summer last year. Lastly PLEASE remember the sooner you get your match results to Adrian, the quicker he can get them published and in turn keep the league tables up to date.
